Founded in 2016, Stand For Earth is an initiative to create worldwide change for our ecosystems, wildlife and people by utilising social media and the web for advocacy through petitions, charities, solidarity and awareness. Not only this, but also; supporting, taking part in and running hands-on environmental missions as well as giving people the tools to make a difference in their own community through advice and inspiration. Scientists have created a mutant enzyme that breaks down plastic bottles! This breakthrough could be a step towards solving the global plastic pollution crisis; one of the largest, modern day environmental disasters.
What Is Stand For Earth?
Stand For Earth is an environmental cause that focuses on protecting the biodiversity of our planet and making the world a safe, equitable place for everyone. The idea behind Stand For Earth is to get people involved in international issues from their own communities through the sharing of web petitions, charities and advice on social media and online platforms. Stand For Earth aims to be a 'portal' to activism and bring all the ways to make positive change for the planet in to one place for easy access, operating under the belief that the many small things we do add up.
The biggest mistake you can make is to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can.

Protecting our environment is the main focus of Stand For Earth. That's why Stand For Earth is here to help by offering a variety of PETITIONS: that range from stopping environmental hazards to pushing green projects, CHARITIES: that help support conservation efforts, ADVICE: on how you can live more eco-friendly and EVENTS, that are helping our planet.
People
The fight for equality is something that Stand For Earth wants to address, covering issues such as; human trafficking, poverty, equal rights for women, poc, lgbt and other marginalised groups and making the world a safe place for all. You can help with PETITIONS: that focus on achieving human rights and demanding justice and CHARITIES: that help the less fortunate.
WHY SOCIAL MEDIA?
Why was social media chosen as the focal point for Stand For Earth's missions? I believe that social media is one of the most powerful tools in the world. Social media is something that connects us all and is a market place for new ways of thinking and achieving. Using social media, we can gather people from all over the world, who want to do something for the greater good, and give them the tools to do so. Social media helps us to inspire thousands remotely and lets us communicate with those we do not know, from countries we have never been to, from our own home! Social media is something many of us use everyday and it's only going to continue to grow as we move in to the electronic world, so why shouldn't we take advantage of that and use it to create positive change?! Yes there are a lot of negative sides to social media but I believe we should focus on the advantages. If we harness the good and focus on utilising it to make a difference, we can make worldwide impact simply from a small mobile device.
